Fall Season Hiking in the National Parks

Hiking is great fun but don’t leave your blackberry behind.

Took this crop of pictures during a couple of recent hikes in Maryland’s parks. I went to Great Falls, one of the region’s most popular parks for all kinds of outdoor fun. Admission is five dollars and valid for three days. If scrambling about craggy rocks like a cloven-hooved mountain goat is your thing, then I recommend the Billy Goat Trail on the Maryland side of the Falls.

On this last trip, I took the River Trail on the Virginia side:


These next four shots were taken at the Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda, Maryland. It’s right in the middle of suburbia and not as pretty as Great Falls, but you can get a decent uphill-downhill hike here.
